Thousands watch as Truck mania hits Malvern

Malvern Editorial 8th Jul, 2014 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

TRUCK mania hit Malvern over the weekend as thousands of people including star-studded celebrities turned up to celebrate a popular festival.

Former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan was the headline star as the Three Counties Showground hosted this year’s Truckfest South West and Wales event on Saturday and Sunday (July 5 and 6).

The two-day event saw hundreds of different trucks descend on the beautiful backdrop of the Malvern Hills for visitors to see.

Keegan, who played Tina McIntyre in the famous ITV soap, arrived at the Showground on Saturday afternoon in a black VIP van and greeted fans at the popular event which has been running for more than 30 years across the UK.

Other celebrities who dropped by included Channel Five’s Mark Dixon from the show Trucks and Trailers and Ron and Amy Shirley from Amercian hit TV show Lizard Lick Towing.

Before Keegan’s grand entrance to the town, visitors got to see a Nigel Morris’ Monster Truck take on the USA’s JR Adams’ Bigfoot #10 truck in a UK vs USA special car bashing and truck jumping.

Visitors also got to see trucks performing an array of recovery displays and jaw dropping action from stunt bike team Broke FMX all in the main arena.

Event organiser Bob Limming said: “We made the move to the Three Counties Showground last year and it was a good decision, and we are certainly there to stay.

“We are delighted with how the event went and we look forward to bringing back and even bigger and better Truckfest next year.”
