A TOWN pub has proved it is ahead of the competition when it comes to beer by winning a prestigious national accolade.
The Nag’s Head has been named Beer Pub of the Year by The Good Pub Guide.
Judges visited the Bank Street venue anonymously and staff did not even know they were in the running until they received a letter.
Manager Alex Whistace, said: “It’s a great reward for all the hard work that all the staff have put in, but also for the loyalty of all our customers who love to come and taste all the fantastic beers we have on here throughout the year.
“We’re really proud of this award, because this pub has always been about the beer and we’re always trying to bring in something special.”
