Career swap proving to be healthy for business

A MAN who gave up a £45k-a-year job in engineering to pursue a lucrative career in selling health care products said now he ‘can’t smile wide enough’.

Jason Bayliss left his well-paid occupation as a sales engineer in August to become a distributor for Forever Living along with his wife Clare.

The couple from Radar Avenue in Malvern Vale, started buying products from the American firm for an extra income but now they are throwing their whole weight behind the endeavour and are hoping to create teams of sellers.

Jason said after his job narrowly survived the axe in the 2009 recession he decided to take the leap because he was confident in the products.

“I hung on to my job by the skin of my teeth as the company I was with lost about 15 per cent of its employees.

“We all know what that’s like waiting for that phone call to find out if you still have a job. We have all got bills to pay.

“Engineering is pretty buoyant at the moment and this was a risk and a huge decision but I wouldn’t give up my well paying job to pay the mortgage with hopes and dreams.

“It has far outstripped our expectations. It’s been going very well, I have no regrets and I totally made the right decision.”

He said independent distributing was ‘the way the market was going’ and reassured others who had lost work in recent years or currently faced the threat of redundancy to consider it as a realistic way to make a living.

“Forever Living has seen a 60 per market growth and has never plateaued in 36 years,” Jason said.

“It is a real opportunity and alternative to a standard nine-to-five. Anybody can become involved with it. It’s like a tree, you start with the trunk and you add branches on.”
