A FAMILY has paid tribute to a ‘loving’ and ‘caring’ man who was killed in a fatal collision with a car while riding his bicycle.
Thomas Goodwin, 72, died in hospital on Monday (January 5) after the incident two days before at Walwyn Road, Colwall, near where he lived.
His sister Margaret Foster has since paid tribute on behalf of his family.
She said: “Tom was a quiet, shy, caring and loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
“He was an ex-Ledbury Grammar School pupil and moved to Worcester where he served as an apprentice at Metal Box, remaining there for over 40 years.
“Tom came back to Colwall and cared for his disabled brother after mum died suddenly in 2002.
“He had big plans for the house and garden which he had put on hold until spring.
“He was a lover of cricket, horse racing and steam trains and was a good-natured character in the village always doing good deeds for many.
“He was also a keen cyclist and travelled everywhere by bicycle or train.
“Tom was fond of doing jigsaws, crosswords, using his computer, gardening and walking Joe, his latest doggy best friend.
“Tom will be missed by his widespread family, neighbours and friends. He leaves a big pair of boots that no-one will ever fill.”
The collision which involved a silver Ford Ranger happened about 10.40am on Saturday, January 3. Mr Goodwin was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with serious head injuries and passed away on Monday (January 5).
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Anyone with information should call 101 using the reference number 141S of Saturday, January 3.
