Runners help swell the coffers

A GROUP of keen runners were quick off the mark to a Callow End pub to donate almost £900 to volunteer lifesavers.

The Malvern Joggers made Worcester Community First Responders their nominated charity last year and raked in £872 through a variety of events including a 10km race and a ‘pub-a-thon’.

The group presented the cheque at the start of their night’s run from The Old Bush pub.

Carl Flint, chairman of Malvern Joggers, said: “We really want to support a local organisation and thank goodness you guys are there because there are situations, luckily not ours, when you are needed and thanks for being available.”

Dave Harford, co-ordinator of the first responders, added: “We are very appreciative of this generous donation which enables us to buy new kit and replace out-of-date equipment.

“In Worcester, Malvern and Upton we currently have 39 volunteers and it is forever expanding. Donations like this are really positive because it enables us to get more.”
