Children in care set to benefit from new services

Malvern Editorial 11th May, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

CHILDREN in care in Ledbury are set to benefit from two new 24 hour services which provide long-term therapeutic support.

The Herefordshire Intensive Placement Support Service (HIPPS) and Therapeutic Intensive Support Service (TISS) has been set up by Action for Children, after it was commissioned by Herefordshire Council.

The HIPSS trains foster carers to be ‘super’ carers giving them skills and strategies to look after the most vulnerable children and young people in the county.

While TISS works with foster carers, professionals and families supporting young people in care or those at risk of being placed in care.

Jo Davidson, director of children’s wellbeing, said: “The therapeutic support service has been set up so that it can respond quickly when issues arise and build a way of working with children with mental health and other needs throughout Herefordshire.”
