MALVERN Link railway station has been hailed top of the pile by the town’s Civic Society.
The station was one of five buildings nominated for this year’s Civic Award with the society picking the Worcester Road site as number one.
It beat off competition from the Coach House Theatre, The Lodges, The Review in Orchard Road and The Terrace on the Hill.
The committee was looking for new or renovated buildings, completed before the end of last year, which ‘added something special to the built environment of the Malvern area in terms of design, construction and craftsmanship’.
A civic society spokeswoman said: “It was a very difficult decision but, in the end, the attractiveness of the design and the positive impact it has had on the area persuaded the committee to give this year’s award to Malvern Link station.”
