A HANLEY Swan retirement home looks set to increase in size after a site expansion received the go-ahead by planning chiefs.
Albion Lodge Retirement Home will add to its current 36 bedrooms, enlarge the kitchen and add a new dining room in the courtyard.
The Darwent family, which own the property, have also acquired an adjacent building, ‘The Close’, with the aim of expanding further.
Mark Darwent, brother of care manager Andrew Darwent, said: “We are delighted to have received planning approval for the additional bedrooms and dining facilities.
“With Government policy now focused around care in the community, we are also hopeful that a future planning application to build on ‘The Close’ will be supported by Malvern Hills District Council.
“So far, the outline proposals have been well received by the Parish Council and I believe there is good support within the community for the development.”
