Highways on standby following Met Office weather warning

HIGHWAYS crews will be on standby tonight and most of tomorrow (June 1 and June 2) following Met Office forecasts for strong winds and heavy rain.

To help keep Worcestershire roads open, a gulley emptier and six gangs (three in the north and three in the south of the county) will be ready to take action.  In addition a specialist tree contractor is also available to help clear the roads of any fallen trees.

A spokesman for Worcestershire County Council, said: “We are preparing to respond to any issues caused by the potential heavy rain and strong winds that have been forecast for the whole of the country.

“We’ve put additional teams on standby so, if required, we’re able to react swiftly.  However we would like to urge driver to take care on the roads.”
