From small Acorns comes a tenth birthday to remember

MORE than 1,000 runners made it an anniversary to remember for a children’s charity as they took part in the tenth annual Acorns Triple Run.

The event, which celebrated a decade raising vital funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice, saw people of all ages and abilities descend on the Three Counties Showground on Sunday (June 21).

Competitors took part in a 1km fun-run, 5km woodland trail and the Malvern Half Marathon.

Laura Heathfield, events manager at Acorns, said: “We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the event, Western Power Distribution who generously sponsored it and those who worked so hard to make it such a special day.

“It was fantastic to see so much support as we celebrated ten years.

“The Triple Run is crucial to help raise the funds Acorns needs to provide the care and support families rely on.

“I want to remind people to chase up those last few pennies and get their sponsorship in as soon as possible, it all makes such a big difference.”

In the last ten years the Triple Run has seen more than 10,000 people take part and raise about £350,000 for the Worcester-based hospice.

Pete Broughton, Worcester City team manager for event headline sponsors, Western Power Distribution, added: “It was a great day out and the company were delighted to be part of such a fantastic event with the crowds cheering all of the runners on as they crossed the line.

“We know how important events like this are to help Acorns continue its care so it is a pleasure to help support such a good cause.”
