A MALVERN victor is one of three new honourary canons to be appointed at Worcester Cathedral.
Rev John Barr was appointed for his dedicated work in both the diocese and the wider church by the Bishop of Worcester, in consultation with the Chapter of the Cathedral.
Honorary canons form a bridge between the diocese and the cathedral and meet to reflect and advise on the life of the cathedral.
John Barr said he had served in the Diocese of Worcester for more than 17 years and had come to appreciate the ministry of the cathedral as a ‘mother church’, particularly on special diocesan occasions.
He added: “I am delighted and encouraged to have been appointed as an Honorary Canon.
“I now look forward to becoming more involved with the cathedral and to being an ambassador for it in Malvern.”
