SECONDARY school students, staff and parents battled the heat when they walked seven miles across the Malvern Hills to raise money for charity.

A total of 24 people from Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College made the trek as part of the Youth St Vincent de Paul (SVP) sponsored walk for St Richard’s Hospice.

At the half way point, Marie and Lesley from the SVP arrived to give the walkers food and drink to restore their energy.

Ximei Liu was one of the pupils that took part in the charity walk.

The year 11 student said: “I personally find the sponsored walk worthwhile, not only because it improves my fitness level but it also makes a difference to other people’s lives.

“The team spirit was high and everyone was keen to challenge themselves. Most importantly we all made it to the destination with fixed determination and persistence. We are all very proud of our achievements.”

The group are hoping to raise £800 for St Richard’s Hospice.
