A WHOPPER of an egg measuring almost three inches long, six inches in diameter and weighing almost four onces was laid by one proud Bromsberrow Heath hen.
The ‘egg-traordinary’ monster egg was laid by a chicken at Drews Farm before it was shipped off to The Shop at Bromsberorw.
According to a national newspaper the largest chicken egg ever laid was an astonishing 9.1inches in diameter – putting this Bromsberrow chicken among the elite egg-layers in the world.
Jan Long, who is a volunteer at the shop, said they had been getting quite a few double yolk eggs from the farm and their customers were loving them but to have one with four yolks was ‘delightful’.
She added when they received their delivery of free range chicken eggs they were all astonished to find such a whopper among them.
“I imagine there must have been a certain amount of clucking when that was laid,” Jan said.
“My husband was delighted and enjoyed it for breakfast.”
