THE DIRECTOR of a company given the responsibility of delivering education services in Worcestershire has pledged to raise standards in schools across the county.

Babcock International was chosen as the preferred provider by Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet in June this year and will be taking over in the autumn.

Over the next five years Babcock Prime will be investing resources in sustaining and delivering current and new education services in the county.

And JJ Bowley, education services director at Babcock, said: “This is a forward looking approach to the delivery of core education services in the Worcestershire region.

“Babcock is committed to fulfilling the contract’s aims of raising education standards and investing resources to improve opportunities for young people and children in Worcestershire.”

As part of its launch, Babcock Prime will be introducing its new services to headteachers, chairs of governors and other key representatives from educational settings across Worcestershire. This will be a free, full day event that will be held in Worcester on November 19.

Babcock Prime will also be working in partnership with Worcestershire County Council to continue to improve the life chances of all children and young people in Worcestershire while addressing considerable financial pressures.

Coun John Campion, the county council’s cabinet member for Children and Families said: “We are committed to continuing to drive up our educational standards whilst delivering services at a competitive cost for the tax payer, and I believe that the commissioning of these services will allow us to achieve this.”
