A MALVERN youngster looks set for a bright future after taking to one of the country’s biggest radio stations.
Honesty Shaw-Young was given the chance to have her voice heard by thousands as she co-presented the Radio 1 CBBC Live Chart Show on Friday (September 25).
The 12-year-old, along with Oliver Khurshid from Wimbledon, interviewed rapper ‘Stylo G’ in a show which featured recent singing sensation Charlie Puth.
Alongside regular presenter Cel Spellman, the show was recorded live in the famous Radio 1 Live Lounge Studio.
The pair auditioned for the part and had video reels sent off to BBC producers who picked them for the role.
Tarquin Shaw-Young, Honesty’s dad, told The Observer the youngsters ‘had a blast’.
“They were not overwhelmed at all by the occasion which was brilliant,” he said. “It is strange but most kids in that environment just got it, they get on with it and do it.
“I was very proud and she did do an amazing job – they both did – but it was great for her as she loved it and wanted to become a presenter straight away.
“They were thrown in straight at the deep end and it was unlike anything else really.
“The environment must have been very surreal for them because underneath you have The One Show being recorded and Radio 5Live next door.”
