Three seized in spot checks

POLICE in Malvern sent a ‘clear message’ to drivers after three vehicles were seized as part of an operation clamping down on rogue traders in the town.

Vehicle stop checks were held last Monday (September 28), using auto number plate recognition in a bid also aimed at cracking down on cars, vans and HGVs being used unlawfully.

Safer Neighbourhood Officers were supported by the roads policing unit and vehicle inspectors.

A further six people were found driving without ‘necessary documentation’ – including insurance, MOT or tax – with some offenders fined on the spot while others were reported to court.

PC Cliff Green, of Malvern SNT, said: “This operation was carried out to identify persons who use their vehicles in criminal activity with a number of drivers also given advice about the condition of their vehicles.

“We would like to send a clear message to drivers that it is their responsibility to ensure they have a current driving licence and the vehicle they are using is legally on the road.”
