Fast Show star has a view to thrill in Malvern

Malvern Editorial 26th Oct, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

A POPULAR actor and comedian turned best-selling author will be hoping to make new friends rather than enemies when he makes a special visit to a Malvern school.

Charlie Higson, who made his name on The Fast Show before going on to write the Young Bond series, will attend Hanley Castle High School on Wednesday, November 4.

Between 800 and 1,000 children from schools across the area have been invited to the event, which is part of a promotional tour for the final book in Mr Higson’s acclaimed ‘The Enemy’ series.

The Young Bond author has written six best-selling thrillers in the series so far, and the seventh and final instalment, titled ‘The End’ will be released on Thursday (October 29).

This is to be the final tour for any book in ‘The Enemy’ series, and including Hanley Castle School, the tour will involve dates at only ten locations throughout the UK.

The visit, which will take place at 9.15am, will consist of a talk by the author followed by a book signing session.

It has been made possible following the work of Worcestershire Schools’ Library Service bringing Reading for Pleasure to schools.

Coun Lucy Hodgson, the county council’s cabinet member for localism and communities, added:

“We are really excited to have Charlie Higson making this visit to Worcestershire as part of his final book tour in this series.

“He is a successful author, writer, actor and comedian and thanks to the work of our Schools’ Library Service hundreds of schoolchildren will have this fantastic opportunity to listen to him speak and learn from his experience.”
