Storm Barney causes havoc in Malvern

Malvern Editorial 18th Nov, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

Trees and advertising boards at Malvern Town’s HD Anywhere Community Stadium were just some of the things blown down as Storm Barney came to town last night (Tuesday).

High winds swept through the county causing chaos on the roads.

Barney – the second UK storm strong enough to be named – saw winds peak at 85mph nationwide, before conditions calmed down overnight.

The MET Office forecasted strong wind conditions between 6pm and 10pm.

Police in Malvern tweeted a tree which had gone down in Jennet Tree Lane in Callow End near Malvern.

And this morning (Wednesday) bosses at Malvern Town FC tweeted in pictures of their advertising boards being blown over and damaged by the storm.

The club tweeted: “Damn you Mother Nature! Damage caused by the wind last night at the Club.”
