Malvern Hills Hotel named one of the best pubs to relax in after walks

THE MALVERN Hills Hotel has been named as one of the best places to visit after taking a casual stroll.

Retailer Mountain Warehouse have placed the historic venue on the list following an online campaign which featured a nationwide vote.

Launched last month, the retailer set out on the hunt to find Britain’s favourite post walk venue.

The firm said the Malvern Hills Hotel was a ‘hot spot’ for walkers and cyclists.




It’s description of the hotel reads: “The much loved pub boasts an 18th century oak lounge bar alongside a fantastic locally sourced food offering making it a great place to rest following a long day exploring the local hills.”

The Holly Bush Inn in Derbyshire won the overall title with Cumbria’s The Wasdale Head Inn, Clachaig Inn in Scotland and Old Nells Canalside Tavern in Preston also featuring in the top five.


Johnathan Palmer, assistant manager of The Malvern Hills Hotel, told the Observer: “We are delighted to be in the top five. It just goes to show what people think of us.

“We are expecting avery busy Christmas period so to end the year with this great news is fantastic.”

Mark Neale, founder of Mountain Warehouse, said of the list, “The UK boasts an excellent variety of choices when it comes to post-walk pint locations, from centuries old spots to lively locals, there’s an endless array of choices.

“Our campaign aimed to unearth the lesser known spots, cherished by walkers across the country for their excellent locations, setting and offering.

“The Boxing Day walk is a much loved annual tradition across the country and what better way to end a strenuous stroll than with a visit to one of these outstanding pubs.”
