MALVERN Town FC’s club house is to undergo a major £80,000 refurbishment as part of exciting plans to take the club to the next level.
Managing director Chris Pinder told fans in a New Year’s message that the refurbishment of the facility will help boost the club’s community achievements in years to come.
The club house is currently used as an extra way of generating income to the club by bringing fans to the stadium so they can watch live Premier League and other big games on its big screen technology.
Work, which will expand the club house with a larger function room, new kitchen and toilets, is expected to start next month with The Big Pickersleigh Project contributing £50,000 of the bill and Mr Pinder paying the remainder of the costs.
Part of the money will also be spent on community benefits with the club to work with schools in delivering and supporting youngsters through educational Btec courses.
Mr Pinder said improving the club house was paramount for the club to succeed with its community-led ambitions.
He said: “It is vital that we increase usage of our club house, which should be a funding generator for the club.
“Work is planned to begin in February to modernise the entire clubhouse, creating a larger function room and kitchen, along with brand new toilets and the addition of a disabled toilet, as well as double glazing and full insulation.
“A new AV system is being installed, which will add a new 8ft video wall alongside the existing 103” plasma screen to make MTFC the best place to watch any televised sport in Worcestershire.”
The Big Pickersleigh Project ran between 2011 and 2015 and was designed to bring a range of organisations together to improve the lives of people living in the Pickersleigh ward in Malvern.
Coun Val Myatt, chairman of the Big Pickersleigh Project, said: “This (money) will help put Malvern Town FC on a more sustainable financial footing, as well as deliver wider benefits to the community as a whole.”
On the field, Mr Pinder is targeting more success for the club following a successful 2015 which saw them win the Worcestershire Senior Urn and packing 2,000 fans at home for Hereford FC’s inaugural fixture.
He has targeted the club to achieve promotion from the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division and be in the next tier of the English Football System in the next two years.
Mr Pinder added: “I love our football club and it is my ambition to grow and develop Malvern Town FC into a much wider supported, vibrant community club, competing one promotion above in the Midland Football League by 2018.”
