A BRAND new era at a Malvern village pub is underway just weeks after its regulars voiced fury over plans to stop children coming in during evenings.
The Brewers Arms now has new landlords Shane Hobson and Karen Longden on board who have vowed to bing the pub back to its successful days as a community pub.
The couple, who also run the Moseley Farm Bed and Breakfast in Worcester, replace the pub’s previous landlord Chris Tandy who sparked controversy after he initially banned children in the pub all together.
Angry comments from visitors made on Facebook about his plans led him to soften his stance which reduced the ban to just the evenings.
However, the pub’s owning company announced Mr Tandy was to leave his position as landlord as soon as a replacement was found.
And the replacements are enjoying life at their new surroundings having started behind the bar last Monday (January 4).
Mr Hobson said: “It’s great to be here and we look forward to meeting regulars and developing close relationships with them.
“Our aim is to bring this place back to the community. If we do anything wrong or something they don’t like it then all we want is for them to just let us know.
“This is a great pub in a great location and the support so far has been brilliant.”
The pair have agreed an initial six-month trial as landlords with a view to becoming the lease holders for the next five years.
A leaflet introducing them to visitors states: “We welcome groups, families as well as customers who are on their own, come with their dogs, muddy boots or on a bike.
“Please bear with us, we are working hard to expand our food offering and get free WiFi up and running as soon as possible to make The Brewers Arms a pleasant place to come and have a few drinks and a snack or meal with your friends and family.”
