A MALE driver was rescued after being trapped in his lorry which ended-up in a ditch and pinned up against a tree at Old Colwall.
West Midlands Ambulance Service staff and Midlands Air Ambulance crews from Strensham and Cosford, attended following the 999 call made to the ambulance service at about 10.45am today (Friday).
Fire crews and police then freed the man who was trapped inside. Winches could not move the cab nor the tree, so the tree had to be cut down.
Once the tree was felled, hydraulic jacks were used to push free the cab of the lorry. The driver managed to get out himself.
He was then taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with leg injuries, not thought to be serious.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The man had leg injuries which, fortunately, appeared not to be serious. Considering the level of damage to the cab of his lorry, he was lucky.”
