Historic Former Station Master's House in Malvern up for sale

THERE are not many houses in the UK which are stood tall right next to a railway track but one in Malvern is currently creating some attention.

This is because the town’s former Station Master’s home, next to Malvern Link Railway Station, has been put up for sale.

The detached building on Worcester Road was built in the 19th Century and is now on the market for around £260,000.

Staff at John Goodwin Estate Agents, who are the selling agent for the property, have told the Observer the unique home would be ideal for a railway enthusiast to purchase.

Inside is a living room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom, three bedrooms, a shower room and a garage with its back entrance just yards away from the rail track.

The home was previously lived in by Malvern residents Mark and Ruby Lambert who both died in 2013 in their 90s. But since then the home has been empty and it is unknown who lived in the home

Mark and Ruby lived in the home for around 50 years before they both passed away. The building underwent a major refurbishment both internally and exteriorly in the 1980s.

Mr and Mrs Lambert’s daughter Cynthia Moore, who is now one of the legal owners of the home, told the Observer she recalled many happy memories at the home in her younger days.

“It was a lovely place to live,” she said.

“We as a family had some great times here and we all gathered together in here at Christmas times.

“It is a massive home which I am sure will be enjoyed by someone. The garage is so big you could run a small market in it.”

According to John Goodwin Estate Agents, there has been some interest in the home with several viewing appoinments made.

The sales brochure for the building reads: “Its distinctive Malvern Stone facade and its unique setting as part of Malvern Link station undoubtedly makes this property unique and present a rare opportunity, not only for the keen railway enthusiast but also for buyers who are looking for a project or a house to refurbish into a really interesting home.”
