‘RUMOURS’ of Malvern Town FC potentially ground sharing their home with National League North outfit and homeless Worcester City next season have been quashed.
City recently announced the club will no longer be playing at Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough stadium at the end of the season after the rent more than doubled from £21,000 to £45,000 for next season.
According to Malvern Town bosses, the announcement has sparked rumours that City could be on their way to the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
On Monday night, Malvern Town’s managing director Chris Pinder said he supported Worcester City in its plight but said no contact had been made between both clubs about City possibly sharing Malvern’s stadium.
Mr Pinder, in a message to fans on social media, said: “Rumours circulating that Malvern Town FC are considering a potential ground share proposal from Worcester City FC are not true,” he added.
“I have received no contact from WCFC at this time.
“Personally, I am very sympathetic to Worcester’s homeless situation and I hope the council acts soon to help their football club return to the city.
“Malvern Town Club certainly supports this cause.”
Mr Pinder told The Observer the ‘rumours’ had been circulating for a few weeks.
The Blue and Whites have been playing their trade at Aggborough since 2013 but now have until March 31 to find a new home.
City chairman Anthony Hampson said last week: “Worcester City Football Club has thoroughly enjoyed its stay at Aggborough and is extremely grateful to the Directors (and former Directors) at Kidderminster Harriers for the assistance they have given to us as a football club.
“It is clear that with on-going delays surrounding our return to Worcester, remaining at Aggborough is un-affordable to us in the long term.
“We must therefore pursue other alternatives.”
