MALVERN’s new Saturday market will offer a variety of items and not just food stalls – as originally planned – following floods of calls from interested stallholders.
Bosses of the Malvern Cube market say plans are ‘gathering pace’ with bookings coming in from a wide variety of local producers ahead of its opening date next month.
As reported in last week’s Observer, hundreds of people are expected to gather at the Albert Road North venue on April 16 when the market opens to the public.
It will then be held every Saturday between 9am and 2pm at the venue’s Theatre Hall.
Jon White, Centre Manager at Malvern Cube said, “Initially planned as a food only market the organisers have received so much interest from other local ventures that they have opened up the market to other stall holders producing a wide variety of hand crafted goods.
“We still have spaces available for stall holders but I would urge anyone else interested in having a stall to book soon to avoid disappointment.
“We have set up an online booking facility for stall holders to book and pay for their tables: www.malverncube.com/market-booking.html.”
As well as stallholders, organisers are also wanting to hear from musicians and other entertainers to add a different dimension to the weekly market.
Mr White added: “We would also be interested to hear from any street musicians who might like to come along on the day and create some ambiance for visitors to the market. “
Anyone interested in becoming a stallholder or who would like to provide entertainment throughout should contact the centre direct on 01684 575363.
And the community centre has been given extra reason to cheer after it was announced the venue will be making a television appearance next week.
As part of a new series titled ‘Out and About’, BBC’s Midlands Today programme will shoot live at Malvern Cube on Friday, April 8 between 10am and 4pm.
Viewers and listeners will be invited to record their surprising stories on camera and highlight any local issues they feel are not being given air time.
There’s also an opportunity to “Turn Tables”, by interviewing the interviewers and having a go at presenting the weather, or reading the news.
