MALVERN cyclist Liam Killeen enjoyed success at the National Mountain Bike Cross County Series after fighting off tough opposition.
Killeen, a member of Malvern Cycle Sports, made the trip to South Wales on Sunday to take part in Round One of the Series in the Elite category and despite facing strong opponents, he managed to claim a second place finish.
Fellow local rider Dave Creber also took part in the Elite category race but failed to finish after an unfortunate fall.
Harriet Harden starred in the Youth Female category, putting on a strong performance to finish first while Louis Brooks and Jack Robinson rode well in the Youth Male category.
Riding in the Junior Male category, Stan Pritchard and Ross Harnden both put in solid performances, claiming second and third place finishes respectively following a sprint finish.
Other performances from the day included Greg Fitzpatrick riding well in the Veterans, Josh Brooks in the Expert Male and Jayden Randell competing in his first National Series race in the Juvenile category.
Round Two of the Series will take place in Plymouth from April 23-24.
