UPTON will return to Midlands 3 West (South) next season after they clinched promotion despite losing to in-form Alcester.
A victory would have ensured promotion for Upton but they failed to do it in winning style as they fell to a 34-22 defeat on Saturday.
However, promotion rivals Claverdon suffered defeat to league winners Manor Park which meant Upton could not be overtaken following the end of next weekend’s final league games.
Upton will finish as league runners up and in doing so secure the second promotion spot behind Manor Park. They end their league campaign with a celebratory home match against Atherstone on April 16.
Full report and reaction to appear in this week’s Malvern Observer.
