MORE THAN 90,000 people are expected to pack the Three Counties Showground this week for the landmark Royal Three Counties Show.
The annual three-day event will begin in true style when Her Royal Highness Princess Royal, a patron of the Royal Three Counties Show, will declare the show open in an opening ceremony featuring The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery on Friday. She will then present the Three Counties Agricultural Society Long Service Awards.
The Royal Three Counties Show is England’s largest livestock and equine event and sees farmers, families and furry and feathered friends immerse themselves in the spectacle which runs until Sunday.
BBC Countryfile presenter Adam Henson will return taking to the ring twice each day to share his expert knowledge of farming.
In the month of The Queen’s official 90th birthday, the Band of the Queen’s Division will also provide a live musical accompaniment to the displays.
This year’s show will also welcome a record number of more than 3,500 pupils from 60 schools across the county on Friday.
Ken Nottage, chief executive of the Three Counties Agricultural Society, said: “2016 is a momentous year for the Royal Three Counties Show as we welcome the pedigree of the farming world to another thrilling year for our premier livestock and lifestyle event.
“A pinnacle moment of the weekend will be when the King’s Troop takes over the Main Arena to perform their earth-shattering salute each day.
“We are eagerly awaiting their performance, hot off the heels of last weekend’s 90th birthday celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen.
“This year we also welcome more school children than ever before and we are deeply proud to be sharing the many
educational benefits of farming.
“We cannot wait to throw open our gates and share what is to be a vibrant and landmark year for the Royal Three Counties Show as the countdown begins.”
Tickets are now on sale with advanced adult tickets costing £18 and £16 for Three Counties members.
Family and childrens tickets are also available and can be purchased on the gate.
