MALVERN Hills district councillor Melanie Baker has been appointed as the Police Crime Commisioner’s new community ambassador for Worcestershire.
Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion now has a team of Community Ambassadors in place across the force area to engage with local communities ensuring their priorities are understood, their needs are being met and their concerns are being acted on.
Anyone can contact their local ambassador to bring issues around crime, safety or policing to the commissioner’s attention.
Mr Campion said: “I made a promise that I would be visible and accessible to people right across what is a very large policing area.
“These appointments will help me understand local priorities and engage with as many people as possible from different areas and backgrounds, whilst delivering better value for public money.
“By re-shaping the structure of my team, I have saved £40,000 which will now go back directly into local communities via a new ambassador’s fund.”
Mrs Baker, who also represents residents from the Chase ward of Malvern, said she was thrilled to have been appointed after applying for the role.
She said: “I am delighted and honoured to be supporting John Campion the Police and Crime Commissioner in his strategy to create a safer West Mercia.
“My role is to be the voice of Worcestershire in John’s ear and I am sure he will listen and respond.”
Residents of Worcestershire can contact their local ambassador, Mrs Baker, by calling 07976 948 871 or emailing [email protected].
