Police calling for witnesses after alleged assault on Ledbury Rugby Club player

WEST MERCIA Police are appealing for information following an alleged assault on a Ledbury Rugby Football Club player at the end of August.

The incident took place at around 2.15pm on Saturday, August 27 where the 24-year-old victim had been assaulted 15 minutes into the game at Rhymney Valley RFC.

The player sustained serious facial injuries and was taken to Hereford Accident & Emergency and later required surgery at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Police would like to hear from anyone who attended the match and may have witnessed the assault to try and establish the circumstances surrounding it.
