FORMER The X Factor winner Joe McElderry is to perform in Malvern next year.
The Geordie star, who won the popular ITV talent show back in 2009, will play the title role of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at Malvern Theatres.
Bill Kenwright’s production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sparkling family musical continues on its record breaking tour having sold to date an estimated 15 million tickets.
It will take place at the Grange Road venue between Tuesday, March 21 and Saturday, March 25 2017.
Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph and the coat of many colours, the magical musical, the UK’s longest running, is full of unforgettable songs including Those Canaan Days, Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door To Me.
This will not be the first time McElderry has performed in Worcestershie since beating Olly Murs to win The X Factor seven years ago having performed at the popular Evesham Arts Centre.
McElderry topped the charts after his memorable win with his debut single ‘The Climb’ but following his debut album ‘Wide Awake’, the 25-year-old has moved to the stage starring in major roles in ‘The Who’s Tommy and on the pantomime scene.
