A NEW scheme has been launched in Malvern which allows people to swap and share skills with each other.
Charity Onside, is running the new “Swap and Share” project which is based on a popular international ‘time bank’ model.
It works by an individual doing such tasks as walking someone’s dog, baking a birthday cake or cleaning a car. The individual will then ‘bank’ the time it takes.
They then can ask for something in return from any other member who is offering what they need eg – to put up a shelf or help in their garden etc.
As well as individual ‘exchanges’ like this, groups of time bank members can get together to help out at a community event or spend an hour together gardening or painting a fence etc.
All offers of help are coordinated by Swap and Share project coordinator, Caroline Screen. The scheme has received financial support from the West Mercia Police and Crime Comissioner Fund.
Mrs Screen Screen said: “We welcome people of all ages and abilities. Some members have more time to give and others need more help, so it all evens out.
“Members offer all sorts of things from putting up shelves and gardening, to dog walking and befriending. It’s a great way to get to get to know others in your local community”.
