Malvern store ditches Black Friday discounts in favour of donating to town charity

A POPULAR Malvern store has opted to ditch Black Friday discounts in favour of donating to Malvern Special Families.

Instead of Black Friday discounting, Fatface has pledged to donate over £100,000 to more than 200 local charities across the UK.

And Malvern Special Families has been chosen by the Great Malvern Fatface store to be their local charity to benefit from this year’s campaign.

The charity provides play schemes to children and young people with disabilities in ‘out of school’ hours in Malvern and in Worcester.

Fatface will be donating a proportion of their profits taken from sales in their Great Malvern store and online between November 21 and 28.

Jade, store manager for FatFace in Great Malvern said: “FatFace wants to make a change to the high street and turn Black Friday into something that gives back to the local area.

“FatFace believes passionately that the retail industry can act as a force for good. Through the unique and innovative

‘Thanks for Giving’ initiative we are committed to making a difference to local people and communities.

“Malvern Special Families is a great local charity providing after-school clubs, holiday clubs and play schemes for children and young people with disabilities.

“It’s great for us to be able to support local families like this. We hope all our customers will get behind us and Malvern Special Families over Black Friday weekend and support us with this really positive initiative.”

Cassie Zoro, Community Fundraiser for Malvern Special Families said: “We are so pleased and grateful to have been selected as the local charity to benefit from the Great Malvern FatFace’s ‘Thanks for Giving Campaign’.

“It’s brilliant to see a large retail chain donating profits to local charities. Fundraising initiatives like this help small charities like us massively.

“Last year over £900 was raised for us through the scheme and we hope the initiative will be as successful again.

“We hope the local community will support us by popping into the store to find out more about Malvern Special Families and purchasing items in the shop during the campaign week.”

The store is displaying artwork created by the children and young people who attend Malvern Special Families clubs.

And staff and families from the charity will be raising awareness about Malvern Special Families on Saturday, adding an extra festive buzz to the store on the Christmas Lights Switch on Day.
