POLICE are appealing for information after a man was assaulted with a baseball bat at an alleyway near Langland Avenue in Malvern.

The man, in his 20s, took out some cash from the OneStop shop cash machine on Pickersleigh Road before walking down the alleyway leading to Langlands Avenue between 12.10am and 12.30am on Monday.

This was where he was then ‘assaulted by a ‘group of males’ who then took the cash which he had been holding.

He is reported to have been punched and hit with a baseball bat by members of the group, who then stole an amount of cash.

The victim was taken to hospital in Worcester after suffering a broken leg and bruises and cuts to his head and investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Detective Sergeant Chris Percival of West Mercia Police said: “I would like to reassure the local community that incidents of this nature are rare in Malvern and we are treating this as an isolated incident.

“The victim has suffered a number of injuries and I urge anyone who may have information to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 184s of 17 January.”

Anyone with information should call West Mercia Police on 101.
