Malvern Hills District Council staff raise thousands for good causes

THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for numerous charities this year by staff at Malvern Hills District Council.

Each year, workers from the Council House and Tourist Information centre choose a number of charity events to take part in and raise money for them by holding raffles, dress down days, quizzes and cake sales.

In total, almost £5,000 was raised throughout 2017.

Jack Hegarty, chief executive at Malvern Hills District Council said: “The fund-raising efforts and generosity of our staff is wonderful, and the amount of funds raised for such good causes over the year have been outstanding, staff should be very proud.




“We hope to continue our good work throughout next year.”

Staff charity events and funds raised during 2017 include:


– Piano Push raised over £3,640 for Worcester Breast Unit Haven

– Macmillan Coffee Morning raised £182.40

– Cake sale raised £50 for the Rotary Club Pancake Race

– Tourist Information Centre collection tin raised £47.36 for Acorns Children’s Hospice

– Dress down day raised £96.81 for Comic Relief

– Cake Sale raised £87.84 for Breast Cancer Support

– £52.50 raised for the British Heart Foundation

– CAB collection tin at the Tourist Information Centre raised £27.35

– Cake sale raised £61 for Edwards Trust

– Tea and Talk raised £61 for the Mental Health Foundation

– Cake sale raised £62 for Acorns Children’s Hospice

– Dress down day raised £122.64 for Children in Need

– The Poppy Appeal raised £92.22

– Tourist Information Centre office Christmas card raised £40 for Macmillan

– Post a letter to Santa campaign at the Tourist Information Centre raised £136

– Staff Quiz raised £50 for Poolbrook Café who will be offering a free Christmas Day lunch for Malvern residents who have no one to spend the day with.
