CYCLISTS can get their bike protected for free, thanks to Malvern Hills District Council.
A special marking event will take place on Saturday from 10am to 2pm at the Council Chamber on Avenue Road.
Each bike will be marked with a unique code which can then be registered on a national database.
If the bike is then lost or stolen it will be easier for police to trace and return it to the rightful owner.
Statistics show more than 500,000 bikes are stolen in the UK each year because they are poorly stored or not secured at all.
Rachel Vann, health and well-being officer for Malvern Hills District Council, said: “This event is a great opportunity for residents to protect their bike for free.
“Community and Environmental Protection Officers will also be on hand to give free advice on keeping your bike safe.”
