Artist puts Malvern's historic Council House into picture

Malvern Editorial 29th Jan, 2018   0

A TALENTED artist has produced a painting of the historic Council House in Great Malvern which will be part of a calendar filled with other landmark buildings across the UK.

Martin Reddington Associates Ltd approached Malvern Hills District Council to take part in the project in order to showcase the historic Victorian building which dates back to 1874.

Significant features were chosen to appear in the painting to express the heritage and beauty of Malvern, including the Elgar statue, a Morgan Motor car and the iconic Malvern Hills.

Artist Alastair Gilmour said: “I was delighted to be assigned the Malvern painting as it was the town I grew up in and am still very fond of.

“It was a pleasure and a challenge capturing the main council building and fitting the other iconic visual references into the work.”

David Chambers, leader of Malvern Hills District Council, added: “We were delighted to be a part of this artistic project and to be given the opportunity to showcase the beautiful building and a taste of what The Malverns has to offer.”
