MALVERN-based charity Mentor Link which helps children and young people is looking for people to bolster its ranks.

The organisation has roles for volunteer mentors to help youngsters in schools and is particularly interested in hearing from men who want to support boys for an hour-a-week.

The charity is hoping to recruit people from all walks of life who are interested in helping young people fulfil their full potential.

Mentors are fully trained to listen to children and support them to improve their self-esteem and engagement in their learning.

The charity has an excellent track record of success in achieving positive outcomes with children and young people.

One teacher whose pupil is being mentored said: “He really enjoys his mentor time.

“He comes back into lesson much happier and enjoys the opportunity to have one-to-one time with a male role model.

“Giving Jordan the opportunity to have time to discuss how things are going is so valuable.

“He looks forward to this time and always returns to class in a positive frame of mind.”

Mentor Link is a Safer recruiter and those who apply needs two character references and Enhanced DBS clearance.

Induction training, travelling expenses, ongoing training and a dedicated team of staff are on offer to the chosen volunteers who need to be able to spare one hour a week for a minimum of six months.

Call Claire Quinn on 07973 572768 or email her at [email protected] for more information on the roles or to register interest.
