CONSTRUCTION work on 48 new homes in a Malvern Hills village is now underway after VIPs and representatives from housing developer Lovell Homes attended the site to officially ‘break the ground’.
Lovell’s new development is situated in Clifton-upon-Teme and will feature 35 houses for open market and 13 affordable homes.
The rural development is due to launch in the summer, with the first homes expected to be ready for purchasers to move in the autumn.
The Meadows, situated off Pound Lane, will provide an assortment of two, three, four and five bedroom homes.
In support of the villages community, Lovell will be contributing nearly £500,000 towards transport, recreation and education.
Clifton-upon-Teme Primary headteacher Cathryn Throup, who helped to formally cut the first sod, said: “Clifton-upon-Teme is a delightful village.
“We look forward to welcoming new families into the community, and to our school, which has proudly served the children of Clifton since 1844.”
Trish Foster, Lovell’s regional sales director, added it was an exciting time for the developer to start work on the Clifton development.
“The village is very beautiful and is surrounded by rolling countryside with a peaceful and friendly community and our homes will reflect this.”
