Wildlife photography competition deadline looms

Malvern Editorial 18th Mar, 2018   0

THE RACE is on for photographers across the county to enter the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust photography competition, writes Tom Banner.

The competition is a celebration of Worcestershire’s wild spaces with amateur and professional photographers being asked to send in their best snaps of the county’s wild areas.

Twelve winning photos will appear in the trust’s 2019 calendar and the overall winner, voted for by the public, will receive a 16×24″ print of their image from the Worcestershire London Print Exchange.

Wendy Carter, communications lead for the trust, said: “The competition brings new photographers and stunning photographs of our amazing wildlife every year – we’re never disappointed.

“Last year we had to choose from over 330 images from over 60 photographers.

“It doesn’t matter whether you’re photographing in your garden or heading into the countryside, keeping an eye on wildlife is a really enjoyable hobby.

“It’s great for us to see the range of wildlife and wild places that inspire people and that make this county so beautiful.”

To enter, all photographs must have been taken in Worcestershire and must be of either a species of wildlife or of one of the county’s wildlife-friendly places.

Winning images will appear as full A4 pages in the trust’s calendar which goes on sale in August and will also be considered for use across the trust’s range of greetings and Christmas cards.

The popular calendar raises funds for the trust’s conservation work as well as offering the opportunity for photographers to have their work showcased across Worcestershire and further afield.

Entry forms for the competition can be found at www.worcswildlifetrust.co.uk/photography-competition.
