WORCESTER boosted their Worcestershire County League Division One hopes with a dramatic final ball one-run victory over rivals Worcester Nomads.

Needing just two runs from the final ball, Nomads’ Joshua Hawes (19) was unfortunately ran out to ensure Worcester snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

Worcester were all out for 197 after 46 overs, with Muhammed Raja (45), Mohammed Adeel (36) and Bryn Evans (34) leading the way with the bat.

Hawes (3-44) was the pick of the Nomads bowlers.

In reply Nomads got off to a flying start through David White (63) and Mark Groves (51) and were at 162-7 when the former departed.

With overs running out, it was left for Hawes and Tom Baker (12 not out) to tick off the required runs but they fell agonisingly short.

Worcester take on Bewdley on Saturday while Nomads play host to Burghill, Tillington & Weobley.
