A LITTLE WITLEY firm specialising in outdoor camping products is breaking down stereotypes and is offering apprenticeship positions with a full salary to people of all ages.
Based at the KDO Business Park, OLPRO has taken on five apprentices in seven years and provides a full industry wage alongside training packages.
The company currently has two apprentices in training, 22-year-old Becky Green and 36-year-old Siana Driver.
Both are currently on a 15-month Level Three course apprenticeship which will see them complete a NVQ3 in Digital Marketing, leading on to a degree.
As part of the apprenticeship, Becky and Siana maintain the company’s 55 websites, deal with web enquiries, social media interactions and the more technical elements of communications.
Becky was recently recognised as the Young Professional of the Month for her hard work and creative flair, even featuring in the July/August edition of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Camber of Commerce Business Direction magazine.
Daniel Walton, managing director at OLPRO, said: “I am a strong believer in training and upskilling and all the people in my company are undertaking training.
“The strength of OLPRO is on the back of our website and our web presences and Becky, who joined us last year, has taken on the role superbly.
“She’s done an amazing job and is a definite rising star- not just in OLPRO but in the country.”
The company received funding from the Malvern Hills Graduate Grants Scheme run by Malvern Hill District Council.
The aim is to support the growth of small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) by addressing higher level skills shortages.
David Chambers, leader of Malvern Hills District Council and portfolio holder for economic development, said: “It is great that OLPRO offers training opportunities for people of all ages and not just school leavers.
“It is never too late to learn a new skill and you can even be an apprentice at 65-years-old.
“Malvern Hills District Council is proud to provide funding through the grants scheme.
“It has given many people the chance to receive valuable support and training to help them achieve their career goals and thrive in the workplace.”
OLPRO intend to take on additional apprentices at the end of the next year.
