Worcestershire residents can cut energy bills with return of Energy Switch scheme

CHEAPER energy tariffs could soon be available to residents via Worcestershire County Council’s annual Collective Energy scheme.

The scheme aims to give householders the opportunity to use their collective bargaining power to get themselves a better deal.

Just launched for 2018 and known as Worcestershire Energy Switch, it negotiates competitive prices with energy companies on behalf of local residents with group buying expert iChoosr.

Last year 550 residents signed up to the scheme, seeing average savings of £182 per year on their energy bills.

The county is once again joining a growing trend on a national scale for money saving schemes in relation to energy prices. Across the UK, more than 650,000 people have taken part in collective energy switches resulting in combined savings of more than £25million.

The scheme allows residents to register their interest before a competitive process starts to find the best deal for the group. They will then be given a personalised offer showing how much could be saved by switching.

Those who register can consider the offer before deciding whether or not to switch suppliers. There is no charge to join the scheme.

To take part, visit www.worcestershire.gov.uk/energyswitch. You will need to have your latest energy bill handy as you’ll need the details during the registration process.

Registration is open until midnight October 8, 2018 with individual offers emailed to residents from October 22, 2018. Those without internet access can register via the energy charity Act on Energy on 0800 988 2881.
