Cyclists of all ages across Malvern can gain skills and confidence with Bikeability courses

Malvern Editorial 4th Apr, 2019   0

CYCLISTS young and old who want to feel more assured on their bikes can go along to special sessions being held across the Malvern Hills district, writes Annie Lucas.

A new ‘Bikeability’ programme will increase cycling proficiency standards for both children and adults.

For children over seven, a Level One course will be held at Sport Dyson Perrins on April 16 for £10 with the aim of ensuring participants learn how to safely control their bikes away from traffic.

For teenagers aged 16 or above, experience will be gained on local roads in the Level Two course which costs £15 and start at Victoria Park in June.

During the summer, a ‘Bike Club’ will also be available at £25 for four sessions involving the Level One Bikeability and British Cycling Go Ride coaching.

This summer course will be held at Sport Dyson Perrins. Visit www.malvernhills.gov.uk/bikeability or email [email protected] for more information.

Malvern Hills District Council’s physical activity and well-being officer Rachel Vann said: “Riding a bike safely on today’s roads is so important and taking part in a Bikeability class is the perfect place to begin.

“We provide support and practical advice that will help to build the confidence and skills of any budding cyclist.”
