STUDENTS at Malvern St James celebrated plenty of A-Level successes after results day on Thursday with 44 percent of grades at A* and A, writes Eve Watson.
More than one in six students achieved a clean sweep of A* and A grades.
Almost 70 per cent of students also achieved an A* or A in their Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and there has also been a strong performance in STEM subjects with almost 50 per cent of the year group intending to pursue STEM related courses at university.
Students will be studying a wide range of courses such as economics at Warwick, Biochemistry at Manchester and Law at Durham as well as several girls holding offers from US universities.
A special mention goes to Lara Maylor-Wrout who has achieved a clean sweep of three A*s as well as an A* in her EPQ about Down’s Syndrome and genetic screening.
Eleanor Houlbrooke, from Ledbury will study Sport, Coaching and Physical Education at Loughborough University.
Headmistress Olivera Raraty, said: “I am really delighted by these results and some exceptional personal triumphs by girls who have achieved so much through the course of sixth-form.
“It’s been a good year for the Extended Project Qualifications, too, with many achieving A* and A, and I believe that these are becoming good markers of ability for universities who like this independent study qualification.
“It’s not all about results, of course – I am just as pleased to see that MSJ girls are likeable, well-rounded individuals.”
