The Worcestershire couple sharing their home with a 28-stone pig called Grace in Malvern have sent us some highly requested update photos and video.
According to owner Nigel Graham, Grace has been doing well during lockdown and is still the “most loved piggy in Britain.”
Nigel bought Grace as an alternative to a cat or dog because his wife Sam is allergic to fur.
But six years later, Grace now tips the scales at an astonishing 28 stone and munches her way through £20 worth of food every week.
She has her own outdoor area and hut – aptly called Graceland – but the animal loving couple also have her house-trained so she enjoys nothing better than being a member of the family and spending time with them indoors.
Since Grace first appeared in the local paper, she’s shot to fame around the world – and has ‘Graced’ the pages of numerous national papers and magazines including the Daily Mirror, The Sun, Daily Mail, Real People and Chat.
She’s also been on German breakfast TV via Skype and has even received invitations from Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to appear on This Morning. But owner Nigel told us: “I didn’t think it was in Grace’s best interest to take her down to London for This Morning.
“I’ve also turned down Judge Rinder, a Channel 5 Christmas pets special and only a couple of weeks ago, a Japanese program.”
Owners Nigel and Sam say they have been a little annoyed by the national press as they implied they were sold ‘a dud.’
Nigel explained: “All the national papers implied we had bought a micro pig but were in fact sold a standard pig. This is untrue, hence my rejection of Judge Rinder.
“I did my homework before getting Grace. I visited the reputable breeder, saw Grace’s parents, did a pig keeping course and we chose her.
“She IS a micro pig… it’s just that not many people keep them in their houses where they can have far more food than a pig kept in a pen outside.”
Nigel continued: “Grace is fed very well and has the choice of staying inside or dozing in her outside hut if she wants.
“She also has loads of outdoor space to ‘exercise.’ Basically, Grace is probably the luckiest, most loved piggy in Britain!”
Thank you Nigel, Sue and Grace for the updates. Sounds like some national papers have been telling porkies but we’re happy to set the record straight.
