Can you give 'Noel' the Kempsey dog handed to RSPCA Worcester at Christmas a home?

A 10-MONTH-OLD ‘lockdown puppy’ was signed over to the RSPCA for rehoming after struggling to cope when his owners returned to work.

Jack Russell terrier cross Noel arrived at The Holdings Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, in Kempsey – run by the RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire branch – just before Christmas when his owners made the difficult decision to sign him over for rehoming.

The RSPCA fears more and more pets will begin flooding into its rescue centres as families who took pets on during the pandemic begin to struggle to care for them.

RSPCA Worcester’s Claire Wood said: “Noel came into us through no fault of his own and it must have been incredibly difficult for his owners to make this heartbreaking decision and do what will be best for him in the long run.

“Sadly, Noel was simply struggling to cope as his owners went back to work and he was being left for long periods of time which was making him very nervous.

“Noel is a lovely, happy little chap.

“He absolutely adores people and will thrive in a home where someone is around for most of the day as he does get anxious when he’s left alone.

“This bouncy youngster is very intelligent and already knows some tricks and skills, but would excel with further training.

“We think he’d love to try his paw at agility as he’s so speedy and active. He will need lots of exercise and the opportunity to run, play and socialise with other dogs.”

Staff feel Noel would suit a family home with children of primary school age or older and his carers believe he’ll make a wonderful family pet and great companion.
