CHARITY chiefs at Community Boost CIC are celebrating after landing yet another grant for a deserving city cause.

A long working relationship with Community Boost CIC has just yielded another grant for £10,000 which means The Boost has now generated more than £100k for various projects in the Severnside Parishes and Rev Mark Badger.

The current grant is to help Mark focus on the needs of the elderly with a trained listener who will visit, talk with and actively listen to elderly parishioners. Mark hopes that the grant will also help elderly people to start talking and visiting each other.

“It is difficult to try and quantify just how much worry and concern even the latest Omicron variant has had on people, especially the elderly and the vulnerable. I am so pleased that we can now do something positive to put a smile of confidence back on some faces.”

The £10,000 grant from the National Lottery Community Fund follows on from previous grants covering projects such as restoration work undertaken on a churchyard to create a family space; mentoring for young children struggling to cope with primary school; youth work initiatives and food bank support during lockdown.

For Keith Slater of Community Boost the success that Mark has enjoyed reflects just how crucial grant funding is for voluntary organisations.

“Community Boost has now generated over £1,620,000 in grants for voluntary and community organisations, the majority of whom are based in Worcestershire.

When you look at what Mark hopes to achieve with this new grant – such as the number of people who will be so grateful for the support to let them begin to have a normal life again – then you realise what an important difference this funding can have on people’s lives.”
