A MALVERN-based charity is thanking townspeople for their generosity at the annual well-dressing event on the May Day bank holiday Monday.

As part of the festival, musicians Paul Beadle and Andy Lindsay played a set in the Victorian bandstand in Priory Park.

As well as being a musician, Andy is the IT coordinator at the Association for Rehabilitation of Communication and Oral Skills (ARCOS), based at Hatherton Lodge in Avenue Road, just a few yards from Priory Park.

And while they played, ARCOS supporters roamed the crowd with collection boxes, asking for donations to help the work of ARCOS, which deals with people of all ages who have difficulties with communication, swallowing, eating or drinking.

ARCOS clinical director Kay Coombes said: “There was a great turnout for the event, and we are very grateful to all those who contributed their change while Andy and Paul played. We collected about £150, which is a great result.”

The well-dressing is organised by Malvern Spa Association, and has been held each year since 1998.
