APPRENTICES across Malvern Hills District who want to take advantage of the council’s offer of support grants need to get their applications in by the end of September, writes Holly Clement.
Malvern Hill District Council is offering £500 ‘Golden Hello’ to anyone starting an apprenticeship to help encourage people to consider on-the-job training.
The government’s community renewal fund (CRF) gave the authority the funding to invest in skills, training and employment opportunities.
Businesses taking on apprentices can receive a grant, but new apprentices themselves are being offered support payments of up to £1,000 to help cover travel, equipment, clothing an other items.
Since December, the CRF has provided 68 Upskilling Grants to 54 companies and supported 35 apprentices with bursaries.
Coun Daniel Walton said: “If you have recently received your exam results, are unsure what to do with your future or are looking for a change in career, I would encourage considering the apprenticeship route.
“Malvern Hills District Council will be able to provide any support and advice you need.”
The deadline for applications is Friday, September 30.
